What is virtual memory ?OR Write a short note on virtual memory.

Virtual memory:
Virtual memory is like a smart assistant for your computer’s memory. Imagine you’re working on your computer, and you have multiple programs open at once. Now, your computer’s RAM (Random Access Memory) is like a desk where you can keep things you’re actively using. But what if you have more things to do than there’s space on your desk? That’s where virtual memory steps in.

When your RAM gets crowded, virtual memory kicks in and temporarily moves some stuff that you’re not using right now onto your computer’s hard drive. It’s like taking some papers off your desk and putting them into a filing cabinet so you can make room for new tasks. This frees up space in your RAM for the programs you’re currently using.

Virtual memory makes your computer think it has more RAM than it actually does. It’s like a magician’s trick, allowing your computer to juggle larger programs or run multiple programs at once without running out of memory. So, even if your computer doesn’t have a ton of RAM, virtual memory helps it act like it does.
