How to minimize the problems in scrolling ?
To minimize the problems in scrolling :
- Make Content Visible at the Top:
- Important information should be visible without scrolling.
- Place crucial content in the top 4 inches of the page.
- Minimize Vertical Scrolling:
- Avoid unnecessary vertical scrolling.
- Don’t use large graphics or excessive white space.
- Put essential information closer to the top of the page.
- Provide Scrolling Cues:
- Let users know there’s more content below.
- Avoid users missing lower parts of the page by providing cues.
- Avoid Horizontal Scrolling:
- Vertical scrolling is okay, but horizontal scrolling is a no-no.
- A page too wide requires constant scrolling, which is inconvenient.
- Encourage Paging:
- Use page-up, page-down keys, or scroll bar icons for full-screen paging.
- Paging is often faster than scrolling line by line.
- Consider Paging Version:
- Create a second version of a website with individual screens for easier navigation.
- This “paging” approach can enhance the user experience.
